Achievement Insanity Project!

Hello and welcome to this insanity project. I am Ciyrose, and I am a sims challenge starter addict, and I really need to stop reading Mojo’s challenges. 🙂 Totally kidding, but not only did reading the Wilde’s, written by Mojo (and if you haven’t read it you totally should,) convince me I needed to start the Alphabetcy ISBI that became the Otts, but I have also been having so much fun reading her Achievement Challenge blogs that I decided, yes, I AM insane enough to try this myself.

I have SO MANY projects going (and if you find yourself really just needing more to read in life feel free to hop over to my main challenges blog,) and they aren’t going anywhere. I have, however, been reading a lot about how to do a rotational play in TS4, and I have been wanting to try one. I miss my TS2 prosperity for that, so thus, here we are at my Achievement Insanity Project. I cannot believe I actually set this all up, but I did, and have picked a bunch of challenges I have never tried before and sounded fun to use and that might stretch my normal playstyle.

There are 10 challenges that will be a part of this insane undertaking, although you could say there will be a few more than that, but I will explain more on that in a minute:

  1. The Legendary Legacy
  2. The Flower Legacy
  3. The Lifestyle Legacy
  4. The Random Legacy
  5. The Master Simmer Challenge
  6. The My Sims Legacy
  7. The Extended Not-So-Berry Challenge
  8. The Box of Chocolates Legacy
  9. The Gemstone Legacy
  10. The Disney Princess Legacy

I am going to set up a separate wordpress site for each of these. I have lots of room on my main blog at the moment, but these could fill that up fast I think so this crazy project will have its own sites. There will be links to everything, so you can come here and see either the latest or you can go to each individual challenge’s page to follow that specific one. If you see something that might make it easier to navigate let me know, but I will do my best to keep everything very organized for you and easy to find/read.

Now, back to what I said earlier about there may be more than 10 challenges. One of the achievements in the Sims 4 game is to play 10 families for 10 generations. A few of these challenges, like the Flower Legacy, last less than 10 generations. So I will be finding other challenges to add on to those at the end in order to stretch that out. For instance, I will be combining The Secret Garden challenge with my Flower Legacy once I’m through the initial generations. I will post more on all of those when we finally get to that point, but for now, I will focus on the 10 I have.

More information about what rulesets and any ‘changes’ to the challenges will be detailed on the specific challenge page. As just a quick note, I have gone back and forth on some of the decisions I am making regarding playtimes and aging/not aging sims, etc. What I have determined at the moment is that two weeks feels like the correct time frame to play, since that will allow all of the families to see all the festivals. I know typically you would want to do a single week each (and I would have loved to do that,) but with the way festivals fall I did not want each family to see the same festivals over and over again. Also, I have the seasons running for 4 weeks each, so we will have a new season every 2 families. I went back and forth on that one as well but decided it would allow me to have a nice even set of seasons, time for holidays (that will repeat for every 2 families, so they get them, but I don’t get bored or overwhelmed,) and a good time to switch. This does break a few of the ‘rules’ of some of these challenges that say seasons should be for 7 days, but this seems like my best solution.

One final set of information, I started off using (without thinking) a redone hood, although obviously it had been played, and I realized it a little way into the first family. To fix this, I transferred everything and everyone into a new save, and then took a ‘test’ sim and simply turned off aging and “played” that sim (basically just fast forward through time) until I got back to the day/time I was at and then removed that sim completely. I also will only have aging on for my non-played sims during the first played family’s time, as well as the MCCC story progression. This way all the families in the entire hood age for 2 weeks per round (along with having marriage or babies happen), but the later families have the ability to meet people and make friends that won’t suddenly age past them at a rapid rate, nor do we lose all eligible spouse options. All right, I think that’s it, let’s get to the insanity!!
